BACKGROUND AND SCOPE

HCI SI is the annual gathering of the Slovenian Human-Computer Interaction community, bringing together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to share ongoing work, exchange ideas, and strengthen the regional HCI community.

Special theme: Sustainable HCI

This year’s special theme is Sustainable HCI (sHCI).

We invite contributions exploring the relationship between HCI and sustainability from both directions:

  • HCI for sustainability: how interactive systems, digital technologies and human-centred approaches can support environmental and societal sustainability goals;
  • sustainability of HCI: how we can design, develop, deploy and evaluate interactive technologies more sustainably, including questions of energy and resource use, computational demands, hardware lifecycles, AI, and sustainable design practices.

The theme is intended to stimulate discussion rather than restrict the scope of the conference.

HCI SI 2026 continues to welcome contributions from all areas of Human-Computer Interaction.

Topics

We welcome work on any aspect of HCI, including interactive systems and technologies, UX and interaction design, human-AI interaction, visualization, accessibility, ubiquitous and mobile interaction, evaluation methods, participatory and collaborative design, and emerging perspectives on HCI.

For the special theme, we particularly welcome work related to sustainable interaction design, behaviour change, sustainability decision support, environmental applications of HCI, sustainable AI and computing, resource-aware interaction, and critical perspectives on technology and sustainability.

Contributions

We welcome regular research papers, short papers, work in progress, and posters presenting completed or ongoing research, new systems and methods, case studies, and position papers.

Decision notification to authors: 6 November 2026
Final versions deadline: 13 November 2026
Conference: 17 November 2026

REGISTRATION

Registration is mandatory and free of charge. Registration information will be provided later.
The attendees cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.

SUBMISSIONS

Platform

All submissions should be uploaded electronically through the EasyChair platform.

Submission Format

The conference uses the single-column CEUR-ART template available on Overleaf template. After clicking the link choose “Copy project” in the Overleaf menu.

You need to be registered and logged into Overleaf in order to be able to do that.

Make sure to follow the conventions present in the template closely. For example, the title of the paper should be written in Title Case as defined by the Modern Language Association Handbook (https://midland.libguides.com/c.php?g=1280402&p=9399181).

Contribution types

  • Regular papers: 10 to 15 pages long including references using CEUR-ART template (see above). The length should be proportional to its contribution.
  • Short papers: 5 to 9 pages long including references using CEUR-ART template (see above).

  • Poster papers: less than 5 pages long including references.

Anonymity

We will use a relaxed approach to anonymity where the authors choose what to disclose. The submission system EasyChair will be configured as double-blind so that the reviewers will not see the authors’ names unless the authors disclose them in the paper. Hence, it is up to the authors’ decision whether they wish to disclose their identity in the submitted PDF (thus being subject to a single-blind process) or not (double blind).

Language

The preferred language is English, although submissions in Slovenian will also be considered (in this case, please provide an English language translation of the title and the abstract, following the instructions).

Publication and Copyright

The papers will be published open access under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence. Publication in CEUR-WS.org is planned, subject to meeting all applicable requirements; otherwise, an alternative open-access venue will be used. Copyright remains with the authors.

GenAI Policy

All submitted contributions must adhere to the CEUR-WS Policy for the use of Generative AI (https://ceur-ws.org/GenAI/Policy.html).

Presentation Format

Accepted papers will be presented at the conference. At least one author of each paper must register and present their work (registration is free). The expected presentation time for full paper is 10 min + 3 min for Q&A.
